1. Before you start

To add your list of 20 target words, the tool requires:

It is recommended you keep your list of words saved for your reference.

Example: SEE-yi-tha - Three syllables, with the first syllable stressed.

Input What it means
SEE-yi-tha Three syllables, with the first syllable stressed.

2. Set up a session

1

Enter a session name

Use the session or client name at the top of the start screen. This is what the saved progress and the final report will be labelled with.

2

Enter the student name

This appears on the final report and in saved progress. It is also useful if you are providing therapy to several clients at once.

3

Load the word list

Upload a CSV, Excel file, TSV, or plain text list. You can also paste syllable-separated words directly into the tool.

4

Check the preview

The preview shows the orthographic full word and the syllables that were parsed. Use it to catch formatting issues before starting the test.

3. Score each word

The test runs across five sets. For each word, choose one of two outcomes:

Correct Incorrect

For incorrect words

Sounds errors

Tick the syllables that were wrong and type the client’s error.

Beat errors

The expected beat in the word is ticked by default. Untick if the syllable is not stressed. Tick any syllables that are stressed instead or as well.

Smoothness errors

Tick whether the word is not smooth.

4. Read the results

5. Export and share

Use Download PDF to generate a report for filing or printing. Use Share PDF if you want to send the report directly from a device that supports file sharing.

6. Save and resume

Each session is stored locally in the browser by session name.

If you do not complete a session during your allotted appointment time, you can resume the session from the start screen, provided you are using the same device.

To avoid confusion, keep the session name unique per client or test.

If you need to remove a saved session, use the trash button next to the saved-session picker.
